OUR Purpose

The academy is built onthe idea that future societal challenges require researchers who combine deep scientific expertise with the ability to see beyond their own field. DARA therefore supports both mono-disciplinary excellence and interdisciplinary exchange.

To host an exceptional training environment for PhD students by enabling forefront research, scientific education and networking.

To create an academy as aninternational beacon for PhD training, fostering a community of outstandingfellows capable of driving scientific and industrial development towards solving future societal challenges.

OUR Objectives

The academy provides an excellent training ground for PhD fellows, creates a framework for engagement across scientific areas and institutions and facilitates cutting-edge research through fellowships, travel grants and national and international partnerships.
DARA aims to:

- Provide an outstanding PhD training environment through funding, educational activities, and professional development.
- Foster a national interdisciplinary research community by connecting PhD fellows across disciplines, institutions, and research environments.
- Support excellent research and international collaboration through fellowships, mobility opportunities, and strong national and international partnerships.  

OUR people

The DARA Secretariat is the central coordination unit of the PhD Academy, supporting its strategic and day to-day operations and coordination between the governing bodies, fellows, and stakeholders. The secretariat handles all administrative duties related to fellowship applications, grantmanagement, course and networking activities, internal communication within the academy as well as external communicationwith stakeholders and media.

OUR GOVERNANCE

The Board of Directors is the core of the academy's governance structure. The Board provides strategic direction, responsible for achieving the academy’s long-term goals, ensuring the effective implementation of strategic initiatives, and overseeing activity performance.

The Ecosystem Committee supports the development of DARA’s annual programme of activities. The committee brings together researchers and stakeholders from across the Danish research landscape as well as fellows. The committee helps identify opportunities for strengthening the national research community through events and initiatives such as seminars, symposia and training courses. The Ecosystem Committee helps ensure that DARA’s activities remain relevant, high-quality, and closely aligned with the needs of the research community.
